Take a Glance Inside
A little bit about The Vandyman;
Liam Sammons grew up in a rural town nestled in the foothills of New York’s Adirondack Mountains. He was born to a family that prioritized creativity, hard work, and a do-it-yourself spirit. He spent his childhood helping his dad fix up and maintain campers and off-road vehicles for frequent family adventures.
His passion for design and engineering led him to study Naval Architecture (the design of marine vessels) at SUNY Maritime College. There he developed a professional eye for luxury design with a focus on comfort, adventure, and immersion in nature.
After graduating, Liam worked as a Marine Engineer in the commercial fishing industry off the coasts of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. It was hands-on, demanding work and he sharpened the skills required to take an idea from concept to reality.
Life wasn’t all work and he spent six months a year traveling in custom-built campervans, including a Ford Transit and later a 4x4 High-Roof converted Ford E-350, both of which he built himself.
In late 2024, Liam stepped away from the marine industry to build something closer to his heart: a business rooted in his love for the outdoors and the vehicles that help us explore it. In 2025, Liam moved to Colorado and founded a handyman business called The Handy Helper, which evolved into The Vandyman.
